Department of Transportation Hazardous Materials Instructor Training Program (IBT DOT HMIT).   

Department of Transportation (DOT)40-Hour Train-The-Trainer Course designed to equip individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge to become effective trainers. This program focuses on developing instructional techniques, improving presentation skills, and mastering adult learning strategies to train future professionals in transportation safety and compliance. Course Requirements: The IBT DOT HMIT Training Courses are in compliance with:
• U.S. Department of Transportation requirements for hazmat awareness training and security awareness
training for workers involved in the transportation of hazmat and hazwaste. [49 CFR 172.704(a)]
• U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration requirements for workers who may be the first responders at
the awareness level when an incident or release occurs involving hazmat.

This course is ideal for individuals who:
• Have experience in the transportation industry and are interested in training others.
• Want to improve their ability to instruct and engage adult learners effectively.
• Load, unload or handle hazmat.
• Drive a vehicle that carries hazmat.
• Recondition or test hazmat transport containers.
