Central Sterile Processing Technician   

The Central Sterile Processing Technician (CSPT) is a vital member of the  surgical sevices health care team. This course provides students with the knowledge and skills for maintaining medical instruments and devices including equipment that must be cleaned and disinfected, decontaminated, assembled, sterilized, stored and distributed to patient care areas in a health care facility. Teamwork and communication skills, quality, safety, infection control, record-keeping and professional development are included in the program.  Career opportunities include hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers, as well as outpatient medical providers. This program includes 200 didactic and 400 clinical hours to prepare students for certification by the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA).

The clinical rotation is a mandatory component of the course. This clinical rotation (400 hours)  will not be scheduled until all required documentation-including background check, drug screening, and immunizations records-has been submitted by due date, and successful completion of all coursework and laboratory activities. DO NOT COMPLETE BEFORE CLASS-WE WILL PROVIDE INSTRUCTIONS.
